Art Speaks

Blurring the boundaries between self-portraiture and imagination, challenging the past, engaging with the present, and redefining the future.

This body of work combines painted self-portraiture and photography. Self-portrait photographs printed on tissue-thin paper are layered into the painted form. They are bringing a sense of aging skin and humanness to an otherwise two-dimensional surface.

With specific attention to cropped features, this work conveys a sense of silence yet evokes emotion through a look or a gaze.
