Altered Self Portraits
Blurring the boundaries between self-portraiture and imagination, challenging the past, engaging with the present, and redefining the future.
This body of work combines painted self-portraiture, collaged textbook and magazine images and photography. The self-portrait photographs printed on tissue-thin paper, are taken during the creation process and are layered into the painted form, bringing a sense of aging skin and humanness to an otherwise two-dimensional surface.
